Joe “Popa Joe” P. Campisi, 83, of Beaumont, was born July 22, 1924 and died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont.
A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Joe was a retired lab technician with Neches Butane. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 951 and volunteered with Some Other Place. Joe was a United States Army veteran having served in the South Pacific during World War II. Known by his family and friends as “Popa Joe”, his life was well served as being a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend and neighbor.
“Popa Joe” will best be remembered for his caring and generosity. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him and will be sorely missed by all. He delivered lunches every Monday and Wednesday to those in need from Some Other Place. He was a mentor to old and young alike. “Popa Joe” liked to fish with the guys, meet with the Kroger coffee bunch, and played poker with the boys. He could fix things that were broke and sing a good song. We love him very much.
