Gene F. Holst, 82, of LaBelle, died Friday, August 17, 2007. A native of Beaumont and resident of the area all of his life, Gene was a retired electrician with Local 479 IBEW. He was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II.
Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his son, Grady Holst and his wife Lucy of Fannett; daughter, Gayle Scott of Beaumont; grandchildren, Gwen Ackley and her husband Marc of Vidor, Maranda Holst of Fannett and Lisa Hooks and her husband Gene of Beaumont; great grandchildren, Hannah Ackley and Austin Ackley, Kaz Wada Hooks, Austin Hooks, Malerie Hooks and Rett Hooks.
His wife, Artie (Sue) Holst; parents, Mayme and Wesley Holst; brothers, Glen Holst and Aden Holst; and son-in-law, Kenneth Scott preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2007 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the Mortuary.
