Billy G. Porter, 71, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007, at his home in Nederland after a long battle with lung cancer.
He was born to Alonzo and Myrtle Anna Porter in Mixon, Texas, and was a resident of Nederland since 1940. He retired from the University of Texas Medical Branch, in the Bio-Communications Department, and also served in the U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Dr. David Higgs officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, W. L. Porter. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Porter of Nederland; his sister Jane Kelly and her husband Albert of Fort Collins, Colorado; his daughters, Lea McGlothin and her husband Jack of Nederland, Jennifer Ellis and her husband, Jacob of Nederland; his four granddaughters, one grandson, and two great-grandsons, one niece and three nephews; also his sister-in-law Dell Porter of Nederland.
