Gerald was born to Roy and Gertrude Taylor in San Saba, Texas. His parents and sister, Blanche Kaiser shall be awaiting his arrival at heavens gate with their arms open wide. Gerald grew up with his brother, L.R. Taylor of Buchanan Dam, Texas; three surviving sisters, Ima Ruth Burnham of San Saba, Texas, Nancy Price of Houston, Texas, and Bobby McKeown and her husband Bill of Pasadena, Texas.
Gerald, a loving and gentle husband and father will be missed dearly by all. Gerald passed away while at home with his wife of 13 years Delores at his side. Gerald was so proud of his daughter, Florenda Gonzales and her husband Robert of Nederland, and his son and name sake, Gerald Taylor Jr. of Spurger, Texas. Gerald is survived by seven grandchildren, Bobby, Chelsea, Taylor, Gabrielle, Cami, Krista, and Dustin. Gerald welcomed his step children Darla and Dale Bean, also Tim and Nancy Payton into his family in 1994.

Gerald loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing or just wondering around taking in nature. Anyone who knew him knew of his talent for woodworking. Whether it was a napkin holder or an Angel Clock, everything he made he did with pride and love. Every piece of art he created was a self-portrait of the person he was and he autographed it with love.
