Suzanne “Susie” Ruth Ethel Hardrath Roebuck, 65, of Port Neches passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. Her family was gathered at her side. Susie was born in Owen, Wisconsin on her family’s dairy farm. She attended school in the rural community and graduated from Owen Withee High School in 1959. Upon her marriage to Phillip Roebuck, her life in Texas began.
In 1976 Susie, Phillip and partners began Golden Triangle Constructors which later became Echo Maintenance, LLC. For thirty years Susie was the office manager and secretary-treasurer of the family business. She was instrumental in the business’s success.
The most important thing in Susie’s life was her family both her immediate family and her extended family in Wisconsin. Whether she was spending time with her grandchildren and children at their ranches in Warren and Del Rio, or whether she was visiting her sisters and families in Wisconsin, Susie was happiest when she was surrounded by family.
Susie is preceded in death by her infant sons, Patrick and James Roebuck, and her parents, Harley and Eileen Hardrath. She is survived by her loving husband, Phillip Roebuck; her son and wife, Mike and Kelly Roebuck, of Nederland; and her daughter and husband, Rhonda and Johnsye McDonald; her grandchildren Chad, Marissa, and J.P. McDonald and Natalie, Michael, Christopher and Ryan Roebuck; her sisters and husbands, Sandy and Larry Fritz of Owen, Wisconsin, Sally and Jerome Weiler of Owen, Wisconsin, and Sheryl “Buggy” and Harold Snortheim of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; her sister-in-law and husband, Polly and Tom Ostertag of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and Denise Roebuck of Nederland, Texas and her many nieces and nephews. In addition to immediate family, Susie is also survived by Joanna and Laura Rameriz. She loved and nurtured the two girls for the twelve years since their mother died of cancer.
Susie can be remembered as a hardworking woman who reflected great strength. She was an example to her family and co-workers in the strength and lack of self-pity she displayed throughout her illness. Despite numerous treatments and surgeries, she worked almost every day.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Karen Hahn at M.D. Anderson for her compassionate care she received. They would also like to thank Pastor Francis Schroeder for his love prayers and concern for Susie and her family.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, June 4, 2007 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland with Reverend Francis Schroeder officiating.
