Greg L. Turner, 53, was born in Port Arthur, Texas and left to see his Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2007 in Port Arthur. Greg was a life-long resident of Port Arthur and Nederland, Texas. He was a 30-year employee at the Port Arthur refinery now owned by Valero. Greg was known by his working crew as ‘Chief’ and was known to his closest and dearest friends at ‘Big Daddy’.

Visitation will be held for Greg at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Port Neches on Tuesday, May 29, from 5 – 8 pm the service will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Church on Wednesday, May 30 at 2 pm with Rev. Bennie Patillo and Brother Jimmy Linn. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, best friend, confidant, and soul mate of 26 years, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Vice Turner of Nederland; mother, Dorothy Becker Turner of Village Mills, Texas, and a brother and his wife, Michael and Linda Turner, of Port Arthur, Texas. Also, Greg had two cousins that were very much like his brother and sister, Stacey Kehtel of Village Mills, Texas and Stephen Rutherford of Port Arthur, Texas.

Greg was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and of course, ride his motorcycle and did all of these things with his myriad of friends and family. Greg was also a big fan of drag racing and NASCAR. He did volunteer work for the community and loved to spend quality time with his nephew and niece, Kenneth and Maria Vice.

Greg will be missed by so, so many people that he has touched during his lifetime. Just know that Greg lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute he could with his family and friends.

Greg’s family wants to acknowledge the love and care that Broussard’s Funeral Home provided to us at this time.

To my precious Liz... I love you so much and am so full of empathy for your feelings now. Throughout your lifetime, you have probably encountered many who possess a magnetism. Their essence seems to shine, drawing you deep within their thoughts. They seem to have tapped a limitless source of power in transmitting their ideas. These people command respect. They're people who have something to say, never fearing that no one will listen. Charisma is the quality of such a person. Greg is well known and loved for his charismatic personality, and his words and actions will be repeatedly recalled by all who knew and loved him. He portrayed a warmth, sincerity, and attitude of concern and caring. Of all the keys to charisma, love is the most powerful. It is a magnetic force. Greg always projected himself with love in whatever he did and that love planted in everyone he touched. He especially loved you for as long as I can remember and I feel so lucky to have been a part of his life!
