Ruby Sonnier Fontenot died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont after a lengthy illness. Ruby was a very caring person who could turn no one away in time of need. She was born in Hayes, Louisiana on March 17, 1937.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Gene Fontenot; sons, Danny, Dean, and Joe Fontenot all of Beaumont and David Fontenot and his wife Wendy of Orange; daughter, Mary Fontenot of Bothell, Washington; four grandsons, Dustin, Brandon, Kyle, and Kevin Fontenot; granddaughter, Courtney Meeks; and great-granddaughter, Kennedy Rice. Ruby’s surviving siblings are Wayne Sonnier of Mazeppa, Minnesota, Alexon Sonnier, Jr. and Elias Sonnier both of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Linda Fruge of New Port Richey, Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2007 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with a burial to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will begin 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007 with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. Pallbearers are John H Briggs, John Carmona, Dan Courtney, Robert Guillory, Alex Sonnier, Jr., and Elias Sonnier.
