Dorris Elaine Weir slipped away with the Lord at 5:30 a.m. on April 25, 2007 at her home in College Station with dignity, faith, love and grace at the age of 86.

Mrs. Weir was born on October 28, 1920 to Vern and Fred Perryman in Beaumont. During her youth she studied and taught dance, was a member of the track and archery team and was on the Royal Guard Flag Corp at Beaumont High School.

She married the love of her life, Harry Young Weir in 1943. Mrs. Weir was a loving wife to her husband for thirty-one years.

She surrounded her three children with unconditional love that she gave to her fullest until the moment of her death.

Mrs. Weir taught a three year old Sunday School Class for fifteen years at First Baptist Church of Beaumont where she was a member since she was twenty-three. She had an abiding love for the Lord and read his word everyday.

She was president of the PTA and was rewarded with a lifetime membership in the Spindletop Elementary School PTA of Beaumont where her children attended.

She loved working as a den mother for her youngest sons Cub Scout troop. Mrs. Weir was assistant director of the Elaine Weir Dance Center where she worked with her daughter for twenty-nine years. She also assisted her daughter with children’s swim classes during the summer.

Mrs. Weir’s life was always surrounded by her children. She was loved for her enthusiasm, interest, and the encouragement she provided them and will be greatly missed.

Anyone who met her was blessed by her feisty personality, eager smile and loving touch. She embraced life and used every minute to the fullest. Her life was indeed an incredible journey.

Mrs. Weir joined her husband and parents with the Lord in peace.

She leaves behind a family to celebrate her victory over death; her sons, Thomas H. Weir and his wife Susan of Beaumont and Terry H. Weir and his wife Lil of Vidor; daughter, Elaine Weir Courvelle and her husband Billy of College Station; six grandchildren, Todd Weir, Thad McKinley, Tasha McKinley, Ryan Weir, Clint Weir and Brent Weir; eight grandchildren, Kierstin Tea Weir, Hunter Weir, Tanner Weir, Anna Kate Weir, Cole Simon, Natalie Simon, Mark Simon and Cameron Ivey; and two more on the way.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Her grandsons, Todd Weir, Thad McKinley, Ryan Weir, Clint Weir, Brent Weir and Jason Simon will be serving as pallbearers. Dear Elaine & Family, I was so sorry to hear the news of your mom's passing. What a great lady she was! I don't think in my lifetime I'll ever meet such a fine woman -- one so tough when it came to business, yet loving to the kids, and she always had a smile! I have so many fond memories of all the years my girls were with you at your studio and how wonderful your mom was to them. One of the memories I have is when your mom called me and asked me to please NOT come back to the Ladies Ballet class...because I was so bad! As funny as that memory is now, I recall still thinking the world of her back then. My thoughts and prayers are with you, as I know your loss is a great one. Love, Carina

Some things are so very hard to understand and I guarantee that everyone will miss Doris's smiling presence. her love and happy spirit was so contagious. You just had to hug her everytime you saw her. Doris knew no stranger even on a bad day she made a new friend. But this was only a small part of her amazing love for everything and everyone. I know my world is a much richer place for having her as a part of it. An angel she is before, now , and forever. I wish we lived closer so that i could be with family at this time. I send my love.
