Mary L. “Nana” Farnie, 75, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Tuesday morning, June 29, 2004, with her family at her bedside. She fought a long and brave battle of COPD, and now has peacefully gone to be with the Lord.

Mary was born in Silsbee, Texas on April 17, 1929 to Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Gracey, Sr. She graduated from Beaumont High and attended Lamar University. In 1950, she married her husband, Frank at St. Anthony’s Cathedral where they have been members ever since. Together they opened the doors of their company, Frank’s Medical Mart Incorporated in 1971.

The majority of her days were spent dedicated to her family. Cooking Sunday spaghetti dinner for everyone to enjoy, and no holiday was ever complete without “Nana’s” famous “suga”. She created many special memories for friends and family to cherish forever.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother as well as two brothers, Dr. Stanley Gracey, Jr. and Robert Gracey.

Mary is survived by her husband of 54 years, Frank M. Farnie, Jr., of Beaumont; sister, Helen Berard of Beaumont; sons, Frank M. Farnie, III and his wife, Martha of Beaumont, Douglas J. Farnie of Houston, Donald P. Farnie and his wife, Pamela of Beaumont, Timothy D. Farnie and his wife, Donna of Beaumont and Mark A. Farnie, M. D. and his wife, LaTisha of Pearland.

She is also survived by her “eight hearts”, her grandchildren; Ryan, Christopher, Adam, Brad, Tressie, Robert, Jay and William; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless dear friends.

She is well loved and will be forever in our hearts and memories.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at St. Anthony Cathedral under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A Christian Vigil will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity or church of your choice.
