James Byron “Jim” Leicht, 56, of Crystal Beach, died February 2, 2007.
Byron lived most of his young life in Beaumont, Texas, attending St. Anne Catholic School, French High School, and Lamar University. After graduating from the Lamar Electrical Program, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served several tours of duty lasting ten years. He then decided to start his life in the private sector, which first included several years working for Gulf Oil Corporation in Houston, Texas. Ten years ago he moved to Crystal Beach, Texas and was most recently employed by the City of Galveston.
Byron’s fun in life was fishing and exploring the beach with his beloved dog Prissy. He was an avid reader and was a true “World War II Buff”. But most of all Byron, our son, brother, father, and uncle was a kind gentle soul, loved his twin girls and family above all.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Marie Leicht, and brother-in-law, Bill Scott. He is survived by twin daughters, Stephanie Leicht Barfield and her husband Chad, Charisse Leicht Stokes and her husband Jason: three grandchildren, Mikayla Barfield, Melea Stokes, and Mayah Stokes all of Florida: sisters, Carol Erwin of Katy, Texas, Joan Dinkins and her husband Jerry of Spring, Texas, and twin sister Rebecca Scott of Vidor, Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Byron will be missed greatly, but do not think of him as gone, but finally happy and contented fishing on God’s eternal beach.
