Mary Gallagher Ayers, 85, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 21, 1921 and was the daughter of Grace Ridley Gallagher Sherlock.
Mrs. Ayers graduated from Northampton School for Girls, Northampton, Massachusetts in 1939 and attended Springfield Business College, Springfield, Massachusetts.
Mrs. Ayers served as assistant to the Education Staff for twenty-one years at Westminster Church of Detroit. She spent fourteen years of retirement at Sun City Center, Florida and was a member of numerous civic and church activities.
Her husband of sixty-one years, Chalmers Ayers preceded her in death.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Carol Ayers Kavanaugh of Beaumont; her son, Arthur Ayers and his wife, Kristin Van Ranst of Three Rivers, Michigan; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Westminster Church of Detroit.
