Glynn was born to Joel Arnold Vannoy and Berta Lee Vannoy on April 25, 1929 in Morrow, La. She was a resident of Port Arthur and Port Neches for 55 years and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.
Glynn married Clyde I. Rabalais in 1950 and together they raised 4 daughters. Glynn married Bob Johnson on Sept. 27, 1980. who was blessed with three boys before they entered their marriage. The union of these two people led to a large, wonderful family which included 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Their loves in life were largely spent at the beach early in their marriage, where they spent beach combing, fishing, and enjoying each other’s company. After 3 years at the beach, the longing for their families led the couple back to Port Neches where they could spend time being parents and grandparent’s full time. Glynn spent her days with a needle and thread creating the perfect dress or adding her special touch to everything that was brought to her. Nurturing flowers that first bloomed in her mother’s yard, attending church, helping those in her fellowship, and baking for family and friends were among many of Glynn’s accomplishments in her day to day life.
Glynn was preceded in death by her mother, Berta Lee Vannoy, and brother, Bennie Vannoy. She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Johnson Sr. of Port Neches; four daughters, Rhonda Melancon and her husband Craig of Port Neches, Janet Zapf and her husband Richard of Lumberton, Vickie Killebrew of Port Neches, and Glenda Little and her husband Ricky of Port Neches; three step-sons, James Johnson and his wife Vicki of Port Acres, Robert Johnson Jr. and his wife Lorelei of Port Neches, and Richard Johnson of Hampshire; two sisters, Beth Cheek of Big Cane, Louisiana, and Anita Goudeau of Boyce, Louisiana.
