Elizabeth Vi Adams went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2006.

Elizabeth was born on January 27, 1948 in Beaumont, Texas, the first daughter born to Viola Mae Joss and Gilbert Timbrell Adams. A lifelong resident of Beaumont, she graduated from Beaumont High School in 1965. She went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin and Lamar University, where she was twice elected to serve as a class officer. Elizabeth was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and chosen by Kappa Alpha Order to serve as a Southern Belle. She graduated with honors from Lamar University in 1970, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology and a minor in music.

Elizabeth was a devoted sister and daughter, and she lovingly cared for her mother until the end of her life. She had a tender heart and a lyrical laugh that will always be remembered and missed. Blessed with a beautiful voice, Elizabeth shared her gift with family and friends who often gathered around the piano at her parents' home. She was an active member of the Melody Maids, performing and traveling with the group for ten years. Throughout her life she had an abiding affection for God's creatures and excelled at showing horses competitively as a young girl.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Timbrell Adams. She is survived by her brothers and sister, Gilbert Timbrell Adams, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Beaumont, Texas, John d'Estaing Adams of Wellington, New Zealand, and Patricia Ann Adams and her husband Tom Granger of Beaumont, Texas; eight nieces and nephews, Gilbert Timbrell Adams, III of Beaumont, Texas, Mary Margaret Adams Groves of Beaumont, Texas, Robert Joss Adams of Austin, Texas, Cherissa Renee Adams Lawrence of Austin, Texas, Caroline Elizabeth Adams Faubus of Houston, Texas, Michelle Elizabeth Adams Thuillier of Houston, Texas, Catherine Ann Adams of Beaumont, Texas, and Julianna Vi Adams LeBlanc of Dallas, Texas; eight great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

A service celebrating Elizabeth's life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Beaumont, where Elizabeth was a lifelong member.
