George Ledford Holder Sr., 79, of Kountze, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
A native of Bay Springs, Mississippi, he lived most of his life in this area. Mr. Holder served in the US Army and was a pipefitter, retired from Pipefitters Local 195.
Mr. Holder is preceded in death by his mother and father, George and Mae Holder and his sister Dorothy Flowers. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Marcy Holder of Kountze; his son G.L. Holder Jr. and his wife Alicia; his daughter Sheila Sowell and her husband Tommy all of Silsbee; grandchildren Johnny Holder, Lesley “Red” Harris, Heather Leah Henderson and her husband Todd, Amber Annette Osborne, and Robin Sowell Hartless; ten great grandchildren; brothers Preston Holder and wife Ruby of Louisiana and Freddie Holder and wife Jean of Conroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road at Hwy 96 in Silsbee with burial to follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, November 24, 2006 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Broussard’s.
