Leonard "Junior" Kirkland,, 82, of Winnie, died Saturday, November 18, 2006.
A native of Goldston, North Carolina, he has resided in Winnie since 1956 where he worked until his retirement as a consultant in the oil field industry. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.
He is preceded in death by his son, Gary Kirkland; granddaughter, Kourtney Caldwell; and grandson, Jonathan Kirkland.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Kirkland of Winnie; son, Kenneth Kirkland and his wife Deanna of League City; brothers, Rance Kirkland and his wife Dorothy of Winnie, Charles Montgomery and his wife Betty Lou of Dayton and Robert Montgomery and his wife Ruby Winnie; sisters, Nadine Hollis of Dunnellon, Florida, Patsy Taylor and her husband Bobby of Humble and Joyce Fisher of Pasadena; granddaughter, Molly Kirkland; and great grandchildren, Nathan Caldwell and Chase Caldwell.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Mortuary
