Eugene Garcia, 82, of Beaumont died November 10, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Eugene was born April 7, 1924 in Delaware. He was a U.S. Marine veteran with twenty-one years of service, serving during World War II, The Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. Gene retired in 1969 after achieving the rank of CW-2. He then worked as security for the State University of New York. Retiring from New York State in 1986 with sixteen years service, Gene and his wife, Shirley, then relocated from New York to Beaumont to be near their two sons and their families.

Gene is preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Garcia; his brother Antonio Garcia; and his sister, Lorraine Kittell. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Jane Garcia; their two sons, Mark Steven Garcia and his wife Karen of Beaumont and Brian Keith Garcia and his fiancée Jennifer of Lumberton; and three grandchildren, Steven Eugene Garcia, Michelle Garcia, and Dylan Garcia. He will be sorely missed by a host of family and friends. He was a wonderful man who led a truly good life.
