Celia Mae Clubb McCown,of China, Texas, was born on March 5, 1916 to Alonzo (Pappa Lon) and Cora Wingate Clubb. She died on October 7, 2006 at the age of 90. She was the tenth of eleven children and was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; and sisters.

Independent, stubborn, giving, never met a stranger; these are all words to describe her. She was always ready to lend a hand (Alvin’s too) to any fundraising church, school or family event. She was well known for her Dirty Rice, Potato Salad and Banana Pudding. At the drop of a hat she was always ready to go visiting, fishing, play cards or dominos and have her grandchildren and family come stay with them. You never left her house hungry. There was always plenty of food, drinks and coffee.

She married Leslie Alvin McCown on December 17, 1936 and to this union was born three sons. She is survived by sons, Leslie and Perry McCown and Melvin McCown and his wife Mary. She was especially proud of her four grandchildren. They are Melissa Foreman, Todd McCown and his wife Martie, Michelle Blaisdell and her husband Barry, and Michael McCown. She was also blessed with seven great grandchildren, Anthony and Erika Rodriguez, CJ, Nick and Samantha McCown, and Ciara and Gunnar Blaisdell.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2006 at the mortuary.

Your family is in my thoughts & prayers. Aunt Celia was a very wonderful lady. She was my PawPaw "Bill" Clubb's sister. She told many great stories about growing up.

Dear Family, It was so sad to hear of Aunt Celia's passing. Aunt Celia and Uncle Alvin always held a very special place in my heart. I was very close to Aunt Celia and Uncle Alvin. Uncle Alvin was the first person I ever worked for. I worked with him for about five years in the rice fields from age 10 to 16 until I was old enough to get my first job at Sonic in Winnie. He taught me a lot about a lot of things and shared so many family history stories with me. I would have never imagined there was an art to using a shovel properly yet he shared this knowledge with me. He taught me how to drive a standard in his old green truck out in the fields. I remember sitting against a tank out in the field talking with Uncle Alvin at lunch just to realize he was asleep behind those dark tinted glasses. I even recall him teaching me how to have a warm can of soup for lunch by placing it on the dashboard in the morning. I remember many games of dominoes playing 84, ladies against the men, after Paw Paw LeBlanc's passing is 1980. I was his replacement on the men’s team. It is from Aunt Celia that I learned how to make a wonderful meatloaf but it was never as good as hers. They both hold a very special place in my heart and will be missed dearly. I would be willing to bet their first day reunited in heaven will be at a bluegrass concert because it is there they enjoyed many wonderful evenings. My deepest condolences to the family and all of my prayers as we journey down this very sad road but rejoice in happiness as we know who's hand she holds today. I can almost hear the dominoes clattering in heaven as I would be willing to bet the 4 are hard at it again. God Bless you all. Danny LeBlanc
