Annette Broussard Steinman, 82, died on September 17, 2006 in Beaumont, Texas at her residence. She was born March 17, 1924 in Beaumont, Texas, the youngest of five children of Verena Green and Clyde Eloi Broussard. Annette graduated from St. Anthony High School and Dunbarton College. In 1947, she married Douglas Emmett Steinman, Jr. who preceded her in death.

Annette was past president of the Junior League of Beaumont and was involved in numerous charitable and civic organizations that included the United Way, the Neches River Festival, and the Symphony League of Beaumont. She and her husband Doug were the 1997 recipients of the Barry F. Long Award as Habitat for Humanity’s volunteers of the year.

Annette’s grace and generosity made her the heart of her family, a beloved sister and a dear friend to many. She accepted and welcomed everyone with a sweet smile, word of encouragement and quiet humor. She showed us the beauty that is revealed when we look for God in everyone we meet.

She is survived by her children – Anne Reed Steinman and Tammy and Paul Steinman of Beaumont, Patricia Steinman Doyle and Joan and Mike Patterson of Houston, Kathy and John Steinman of Austin, and Grace and Gene Foca of Chatham, New Jersey. She is survived by 15 grandchildren – Brian Meter and his wife Toyah of Detroit, Michigan; Christopher and Elizabeth Meter of Seattle, Washington; Joseph, William and Bridget Doyle and Zoë and Max Patterson of Houston; Douglas and Claire Steinman of Austin; John and Ben Steinman of Beaumont; Grace Anne, Katherine, and Patrick Foca of Chatham, New Jersey. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren – Summer King and Brian Meter, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan. She is survived by her brother and sisters Joe Broussard II and Katherine Belle Doyle of Beaumont, Mary Elizabeth Donovan of Houston and Estelle Schleuter of Pasadena, California, nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sue Steinman Read of Portland, Oregon and her daughters.

Annette’s children give a special thank you to the women who cared for their mother with love and dignity: Shelia Patterson, Linda Simon and Linda’s Angels – Crystal, Sarah, and Helen.

:Mrs. Steinman was one of my volunteers when I worked at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. I would call her and she would get a few other women to come out and help with the mail outs. One beautiful spirit with a everlasting smile on her face. I will always remember that wonderful smile and warm personality that just touched everyone. Here is a little story just to help you along the way. " There was a business that was going to move to a new site. Also there was a family who lost a love one that same week. When the order came into the flower shop for flowers to be sent to these two differernt occassions the cards got mixed up. The business card said, "sorry for your loss". The card that went to the family who love one had passed, said "Congrulations on your New Home"!
