Brenda Joy Melancon Smith, 46, of Nederland, died Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Broussard's in Nederland with Reverend David Logan officiating. Interment will follow a Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 pm Friday at the mortuary.
Brenda was a native of Port Arthur and lived in the Nederland and Bridge City area all of her life. She retired from Dr. Alfonso Meza's office as a billing clerk with 13 years of service. She was also a member of the Word Of Life Church in Groves.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ben Melancon, and sister, Jeanette Ivey; she is survived by her husband Jerry Smith; mother, Alida Melancon of Nederland; one daughter, Jennifer Smith Whitehead and husband Robert of Houston; one brother, Billy Melancon and wife Brenda of Kountze; one sister, Jane Perkins and husband Billy of Nederland.
