Born September 12, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas, his family was one of the first to settle in Texas in the 1820’s, receiving first a land grant from Mexico and later a land grant from the Republic of Texas. Growing up in Beaumont, he attended Averill Elementary, Dick Dowling Junior High and Beauont High School, where he served as president of the high school Band. College years were spent at the University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee and then onto Harvard Business School to pursue a Masters Degree in Business. Back in Beaumont, Jim was a very faithful and active member of Trinity United Methodist Church serving on numerous committees. He served as President of the Lamar University Foundation, the Cardinal Club and the YMCA. He was on the Board of Trustees of Lon Morris Junior College, the Moody Retirement Center, and the Mamie McFaddin Ward Heritage Foundation. For many years, he was an active member of the Beaumont Rotary Club.

Jim was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of forty-five years and a devoted father to his three children. He was known for his great sense of humor and quick wit. Jim was a man of integrity. In his earlier years, Jim loved sports and was an avid outdoorsman.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Dunham McFaddin; and daughter, Mary Ellen McFaddin. He is survived by his daughter, Carroll McFaddin Libbon of Austin and her three children, Sean, Christopher and Jenna; his son, Michael Caldwell McFaddin of Beaumont, wife Mondie and daughter Allie; two sisters, Rosine McFaddin Wilson and Ida McFaddin Pyle and husband Charlie both of Beaumont; and one brother Eugene McFaddin of Houston.
