Anita George Lekas, 79, of California, died Sunday, June 11, 2006.
Born November 15, 1926 in Beaumont, Anita attended local schools and graduated from Rice Institute in Houston. After graduation, she worked as a reporter for the Beaumont Journal for six years. In February of 1952 she married to Mitchell Lekas of Oakland, California. They had three children, Dr. John C. Lekas, Jim Lekas, and Tina Lekas Miller. She was fortunate enough to have traveled all over the world with her husband who was a geologist and ran a company called Geokinetics.
She is survived by her husband; her children; five grandchildren; and is expecting her first great grandson; and her sister, Evangeline George of Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
