KATHERINE BECK LEFLER
Kay was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on December 28, 1909. She was the daughter of John Henry Beck and Dessie Mae Beck both of whom predeceased her. She had two brothers, George Beck and Ralph Beck both of whom died before her.
She attended school in Pittsburg, graduating from Wilikinsburg High School and married M.L. (Buddy) Lefler, Jr. on July 3, 1943 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Buddy was working as an expediter at the time and upon the conclusion of World War II, Kay and he moved to Beaumont where he opened a law office with Lindsey Walker and Gail Walley. Buddy went into the land and building business with Kay by his side helping with book work, running the office, and she and he were quite successful. During their later years, they toured most of Europe, most of the United States and many other places. Buddy was a member of El Mina Shrine and she and he devoted a lot of time to that, and to the First United Methodist Church of Beaumont.
She is survived by two nieces, Kathie Rush Marshall of Houston and Jane Rush Bauerlein of Florida.
Memorial services will be held for Katherine Beck Lefler at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006 in the Longe Chapel of First United Methodist Church in Beaumont.
