Elbert William “E. W.” Melder of Nederland, TX passed away on May 12, 2006, at the age of 96. He was born Boyce, LA on January 1, 1910 to John and Alma Melder of Forest Hill, LA. He was employed with Texaco Oil Refinery in 1929 and retired January 30, 1972 after 43 years of service as a Supervisor in the Treating Department.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Eldred Melder and two daughters, Rita Faye Carter and Sue Prestridge and one grandson, Rusty Carter.
He is survived by one son, Fred Lee Melder of Cabot, AR; one daughter, Frankie Melder of Austin; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A Celebration of his life will be on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Broussard’s Nederland Chapel at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 – 8 PM on Monday, May 15, 2006 at Broussard’s Mortuary 505 12th. St. in Nederland.
