Peggy Sue Kerr died Thursday, April 20, 2006 at her residence in Port Neches.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, 2006 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland, with the Reverend Francis Schroeder officiating. A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for Sunday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church.

A Native of Gladewater, she had lived in Port Neches most of her life. Peggy was born March 10, 1939 to T.A. and Vernell Golden. She met the love of her life, Gary Kerr in high School. Peggy graduated from high school in May 1957. She and Gary married and traveled a short while due to Gary’s military enrollment, before settleing in Port Neches. Peggy worked for several years in the transportation industry before retiring to be with her family full time. She did eventually enter back into the worked force by going to work at Dillard’s in Central Mall. She loved her experience there and worked until her husband became ill with cancer. During their years together, Peggy and Gary traveled extensively on motorcycles. They adored their bike trips. They were also very involved in credit union activities for many years.

Peggy was an extremely proud “Maw Maw”. She could not say enough about her grandchildren. Peggy was a deeply devoted and loving wife and was by her husband side until his death, October 23, 2005.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Gary; mother Vernell Golden of Vivian, Louisiana and brothers Robert Golden of Chicago, Ill., Harold Golden of Shreveport, LA., and sister Barbara Ritzenthaler of Bradenton, FL. She is survived by her daughter Cindy Van Brocklin and Husband Gil of Port Neches, Son Brian and wife Sylvia.
