Alicia Christine Bonura
Alicia Christine Bonura, 18 of Beaumont died Wednesday, March 29, 2006. Born October 26, 1987 to Mike and JoAnne Bonura in Beaumont, she was a senior at West Brook High School. Alicia began her education at Amelia Elementary, and completed Vincent Middle School prior to attending West Brook. She always made A’s in school, was a member of the National Honor Society, and had attained the scholastic rank of 5th out of 535 in her senior class. Her involvements included the Drama Club, trainer for the West Brook football team, had played basketball and ran cross country at West Brook, was currently President of St. Jude’s Catholic Youth Organization, worked as an usher at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, and volunteered at Some Other Place. She had been accepted to Texas A & M University, College of Engineering, to major in Mechanical Engineering, and had received the university’s President’s Achievement Scholarship for Academics. Alicia was very athletic, and played and excelled in soccer since the first grade. She played club soccer for Spindletop Select where she was coached by her mentor, Jim Thibaut. Her favorite memory in soccer was her senior year, because she loved her teammates and her coach, Rachael Scoggin.
Family, church, studies, soccer and friends were the important things in her life. Alicia had a glow about her, never met a stranger, and loved everyone. She had a wonderful ability to balance her life, and fit everything in. Her involvements with sports and church groups gave her friends most everywhere. Always smiling, always busy, she was first to volunteer to help… like our little “Earth Angel”. A natural beauty, she was definitely a family girl, and loved to be around her aunts, uncles and cousins, and she would even stop what she was doing to help her brothers with their homework. Alicia played the drums and loved music, it made her smile. She always sang along even though she thought she didn’t have much of a voice. She recently wrote… “I want to meet God … he’s such a fantastic guy”.
Alicia is survived by her parents; Mike and JoAnne Bonura; her brothers Joshua and Jacob Bonura; family dog Rocky; grandmother, Margaret Bevilacqua Bonura; aunts and uncles, Gerard Bonura, Lawrence and Debbie Bonura, Ronald and Ligia Turano, Donald and Liz Turano, Philip Turano, and a host of family and friends. Alicia was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary and Tony Turano, and Lawrence W. Bonura. Her family wishes to acknowledge her special friends; Hunter Hamilton and his family, Ailene Luistro and the youth group members throughout the Diocese of Beaumont, and her special teacher at West Brook, Ken Poston.
