Mary Elizabeth Smith, of Sour Lake died March 22, 2006 at her home. She was born in Stowell, Texas and was a lifetime resident of the Beaumont area where she worked as an accountant.
Mary was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sour Lake and a devoted Christian. She served and ministered with her husband in many area churches and ministries. Mary used her strong Christian values in the raising of her children, and taught them to devote their lives to serving the Lord. She loved praise and worship, southern gospel and classical music.
Some of her things in life she enjoyed were gardening, playing golf, flower arranging and singing at church. She loved carnations, Texas wildflowers, roses, dolls, teacup’s, her family and bird watching. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas Eve so she could be with her family and spend time with them.
Mary is survived by her husband, Tommy J. Smith, Sr. of Sour Lake; son, Tommy J. Smith, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Sour Lake; daughters, Patricia Ann Oliver and her husband John of Port Neches, Cindy K. Wilson and her husband Bobby of Kountze, Kathy Smith and her husband G.W. of Hamshire and Susan Elizabeth Smith of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Jason Smith and his wife Brenda, Brandon Smith and his wife Tonya, Chad Wilson and his wife Heather, Ryan Lambeth and his wife Joni, Cody Smith, Clint Wilson and his fiancé Leslie, Anna Oliver, Kamryn Smith and Keli Oliver; three great grandsons; four great granddaughters plus one due in July; sisters, Jane Smithhart Rischer of Morton, Mississippi and Sherry Lynn Young of Tennessee.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Sour Lake under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive followed by a burial at Rosedale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons Jason Smith, Brandon Smith, Cody Smith, Chad Wilson, Clint Wilson and son-in-law John Oliver. Honorary pallbearer will be her grandson Ryan Lambeth. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday evening March 24, 2006 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
