Loma Madero Jorden, 95, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at The Oaks Nursing Home.
Mrs. Jorden was born January 28, 1911 in Riesel, Texas, the daughter of Edward and Clementine (Rhea) Busby. Mr. and Mrs. Jorden raised a family of seven children in Beaumont and resided for short periods of time in Dayton, Waco, and Wildwood before illness necessitated their return to Beaumont under the care of Schlesinger’s Geriatric Center.
Mrs. Jorden played basketball for her high school in Riesel and attended Baylor University prior to marriage. Although she worked at Beaumont Rice Mills and as a sales clerk at a number of Beaumont department stores at various times, Mrs. Jorden was primarily a homemaker and devoted mother who delighted in caring for her children and grandchildren. She was also “nanny” for a number of young families and gentle caretaker in several church nurseries.
Her husband, “Mike” Jorden; daughter, Lisa (Jorden) Mayea; grandson, Sydney (Jorden) McReynolds; and granddaughter, Angie Chavez preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Emmette Edward Jorden, Sr. and his wife Patricia “Gabe” Gabel of Sagle, Idaho, Michael Rhea Jorden and his wife Renaté of Houston, John David Jorden and his wife Helena of Vidor, Alva Delaney Jorden of Beaumont, and Theodore J. “Ted” Jorden and his wife Eva of Ville Platte, Louisiana; daughter, Theresa M. “Tess” (Jorden) Pate and her husband David Pate of Beaumont; daughters-in-law, Connie (Chavez) Jones of Beaumont, and Mary Ann (Landry) Schram and her husband Don of Vidor; grandchildren, Dorothy (Jorden) Crocker and her husband Larry of Lumberton, Carol Marie (Jorden) Cleveland and her husband “Bo” of Vidor, Emmette Edward Jorden, Jr. of Cincinatti, Ohio, Guy Busby Jorden and his wife Ana Maria of Woodburn, Oregon, Diana (Mayea) McDaniel and her husband Lynn McDaniel of Conroe, Madero Christine (Mayea) Marino of China, Christiane (Jorden) Brown and her husband Jeff of Houston, Lane (Jorden) McReynolds of Beaumont, Stephen (Jorden) Jones and his wife Jennifer of Fort Huacuca, Arizona, Shannon Jorden, Tammy Lavergn, Kimberly (Jorden) Soileau and her husband Joey, and Jeremy Jorden all of Ville Platte, Louisiana, Ingrid Griffin of Lumberton, Shawn Griffin and his wife Lindsey of Walters, Oklahoma; thirty great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 5:00 P.M. Friday, March 24, 2006 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin. A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Riesel Cemetery in Riesel, Texas. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service.
