MELVIN BUTTS

Melvin Butts, 69, of Winnie, died February 17, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in Houston of a massive coronary.

Melvin lived most of his life in Winnie, where he was an enterprising businessman and salesman. He worked for Monsanto Chemicals, M & J Fertilizer and was the owner of T-Shirts Plus and McConnell’s Ice Cream. For the past sixteen years he was an insurance agent for Butts Insurance where he will be sorely missed by his many loved friends and clients. He touched many lives and had a variety of interests. Among his favorite times were those spent traveling with his wife Elaine, playing “Gramps” to Evan and taking care of his horses and cows. He also had many adventures riding with family and friends on his Polaris.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006 at St. Louis Catholic Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s 134 W. Buccaneer Dr. Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, February 19, 2006 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years Lucy Elaine Clubb Butts; their three children, Melaine Kauzloric and her husband Steve, Marcus and Macklin Butts; and grandson Evan Kauzloric. He is also survived by a daughter from a previous marriage, Timberlynn Spell and his sisters, Mildred Lamb, Frances Hanks, Oleta Hamby and Jeanetta Redwine.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Beaumont Division, P. O. Box 7015, Beaumont, Texas 77726-7015.
