Nolan Carroll Sharp passed from this Earth on the morning of Feb.2, 2006. He was born on July 11, 1927 in Vowells Mill, Louisiana to George and Judy Sharp. He and his older brother Norman (who passed in 1997) grew up working extremely hard on the family farm. These early experiences developed a character and resourcefulness that stayed with Nolan throughout his entire life. Some of his many roles include hunter, fisher, farmer, traveler, oil refinery safety inspector and Bible study teacher. In his retirement Nolan was a driver for the nuns of St. Elizabeth’s hospital, and maintained the family farm in Louisiana as well as the home in Nederland. Nolan had the talent and ideas to write books but never found the time. He was a brilliant problem-solver at work and a completely dedicated and faithful husband and father at home. Nolan lived the ideal of service to others. His contributions are priceless and literally beyond words. Those who know and love him realize that he is irreplaceable and will miss him terribly.
Nolan is survived by his wife Laverne, of Nederland, Texas and by his children, Kevin Sharp and wife Ruth Sharp, and Karen Sharp - all of Austin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Carol Anne, who passed in 1977. He also has two granddaughters, three great granddaughters, and one great grandson.
