Barney Tompkins, 72, of Nederland passed away, Tuesday January 17, 2006 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2006 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Rev. Alan Autrey officiating. Interment and military graveside services will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday evening at the mortuary.
Mr. Tompkins was a native of Port Arthur and lived most of his life in Port Acres. He retired from Gulf Oil Corporation in Port Arthur as a welder with 33 years of service. He also served our country in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his two daughters, Rhonda Duhon and husband Pat of Bridge City, and Diana Atchley of Nederland; two sisters, Linda Cherry and husband Bobby of Nederland, and Lynette Woodson of Beaumont; three brothers, Leroy Tompkins and wife Ruth of Nederland, Jerry Tompkins and wife Mary Sue of Nederland, and Rodney Tompkins and wife Marion of Port Acres; two grandchildren, Ashley, and Austin Halter, also several nieces and nephews.
