Gladys Thorp, 83, of Nederland passed away Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
A mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 20, 2006 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Rev. Dan Malain officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday with a scriptural rosary to be recited at 6 PM at the mortuary.
Mrs. Thorp was a native of Louisville, Kentucky, and lived in Nederland since 1946. She retired as a sales clerk from Bobbies Superette in Nederland after several years of service.
She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland where she served in the Altar Society.
Mrs. Thorp was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and her son David. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Benoit and husband Dwayne of Nederland, and Betty Mallet also of Nederland. One son, Paul Thorp and wife Jane, sister, Evelyn Taylor of Louisville, Kentucky, brother, Deanie Bodner also of Louisville, and seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
