Dorothy Sue “Dottie” Morgan, 73, of Beaumont, passed away Monday, January 9, 2006 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.

Dottie was born on October 28, 1932 to parents, Hubert and Bertie Mae Whitehead in a small sawmill town in Pineland, Texas. Dottie attended Pineland High School where she enjoyed playing basketball and was very popular, and graduated in 1949. Dottie came to Beaumont in 1949 to look for a job. She worked for S.H. Kress, Gordon Jewelers and then later for Security State Bank.

Dottie met the love of her life, Bob Morgan in 1949. They were married on December 16, 1950 and were married for fifty-five years. Bob and Dottie were inseparable, and the only time they were ever apart was when Bob joined the service in 1952, and it was only for a very short time before she joined him.

She joined First Assembly of God in 1960, and was founding member of Cathedral In The Pines and Christian Fellowship Worship Center. Both she and her husband retired from years of service with Cathedral In The Pines. Dottie had been the financial secretary for all three churches since 1960. They are both currently very involved in the Christian Fellowship Church in Beaumont.

Dottie cherished and loved her family, home, church and especially her only great grandson, Rylan Morgan. She also loved going to their hunting cabin deep in the woods of East Texas with her husband where they enjoyed spending time with their family.

Dottie’s parents, Bertie Mae and Hubert Charles Whitehead; and her brother, Carl Whitehead preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Morgan of Beaumont; sons, Randy Morgan and his wife Charlotte of Silsbee and Ricky Morgan and his wife Kathy of Woodville; grandchildren, Ryan Morgan and his wife Miranda of Beaumont, Dustin Morgan of Nome, and Alicia Wallace of Houston; and one great grandson, Rylan Morgan of Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Cathedral In The Pines with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Buddy Pelton, Al Richardson, Cotton Dodge, Mike Morgan, Lynn Hollister, Kell Jones, Leon McNeel and Ken Gregory will serve as pallbearers. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Mortuary.

Special thanks to Dr. Robert Birdwell, his nursing staff and the Oncology Unit at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.

What a dear... precious lady....always a smile and time to ask how you were doing. She was the ultimate of "Christian Femiminity"...as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She'll be there to welocme us home with her warmth and charm.
