John Boyt Cole, avid outdoorsman, father and husband, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family. John passed away on Friday, December 23, 2005, after an extraordinarily courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband to Lynn for thirty-eight years, and dear father to Meghan and Rebekah. John was born in Beaumont, Texas to Herbert and Thelma Cole on July 5, 1943.

Since the young age of six, Bolivar Peninsula and all its beaches, marsh and bay was John’s preferred home. His passions included fishing, hunting, beach combing, and trying out new recipes. Most weekends were spent with his wife at the beach house, where they would relax…and always if the wind was right, fish.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Milton Cole.

Survivors include his mother, Thelma Cole; his wife, Lynn Cole; daughters, Meghan and Rebekah; brothers, Herb and his wife Normi and Jack; and numerous nieces, nephews and his yellow Labrador, Belle.

Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Conservation Association, directed to ccatexas.org or 1-800-626-4222 for the local Golden Triangle Chapter.
