Margaret June Wilson Carlucci, better known as Peggy Wilson, was born in Logansport, Indiana, on August 10, 1926, and died November 08, 2005 in Beaumont. While she was still very young, her parents moved to Dallas, Texas, where Peggy attended schools in Highland Park. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Stephens College in Fulton, Missouri, for a time and then completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. During her college years she became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and was a longtime loyal supporter of that organization.
After marriage to the late lawyer Jackson Broocks (Jack) Osborne, Sr., she lived in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for a time and then resided for about ten years in New Orleans, one of her favorite cities. She came to Beaumont, Texas, in 1958 and has resided here ever since. Following the move to Texas, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art, Magna Cum Laude, from Lamar University. She also studied at The Glassell School of Art in Houston, the Anderson Ranch Summer Arts Center in Aspen, Colorado, and participated in several Lamar University summer art trips to Rome and London.
As a professional artist and photographer, Peggy won numerous honors and awards and enjoyed several one-person exhibitions, as well as participation in many general exhibitions. Some of her art work may be seen in private homes, businesses and elsewhere throughout Southeast Texas.
As a resident of Beaumont, Peggy was also extremely active in the community. She was a lifetime member of the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, which she served as a docent, a teacher of docents, a member of the Accessions Committee, a board member and President. Her art work has also been exhibited at AMSET. She helped to found the Beaumont Heritage Society, served as a board member and President, created the logos that are still used by that organization, designed and decorated the gift shop and managed it for eight years. She was also a member of the Junior League, Magnolia Garden Club, Symphony League of Beaumont and a board member, Past President and Educational Chairman of Beaumont Art League. As a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, she served as a Deacon, was a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Group and chaired numerous event committees.
In 1994 Peggy married Dr. Joseph B. Carlucci, Conductor Emeritus of The Symphony of Southeast Texas. They nurtured a mutual love for the arts and history through membership in The Symphony of Southeast Texas, Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Beaumont Art League, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera, Friends of the Arts at Lamar University, Lamarissimo! concert series, Beaumont Heritage Society and Tyrrell Historical Library. Peggy fulfilled a lifelong dream when they visited the famous Hermitage art museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Edvard Munch Museum in Oslo, Norway during a Baltic cruise. It was the fitting culmination of a series of trips to art museums in New York, St. Petersburg, Florida, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, Fort Worth and Santa Fe.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Dr. Carlucci, of Beaumont; two sons, Jackson Broocks Osborne, Jr., and his wife, Jeannie Willcox Osborne, of Houston, and Allen Wilson Osborne and Diane Arceneaux of Nederland; and two grandsons, Jackson Broocks (Jay) Osborne III and Eugene Edwards (Gene) Osborne of Houston. Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved parents Charles G. Wilson and Margaret Penny Wilson.
