I knew Pep in the Army. He and I served with the 58th Signal Battalion, Fort Lewis, Washington, from early 1969 to May 1970. We were young and full of life -- I had just returned from a year and a half in Vietnam -- and we probably partied too much and too long. He was with me when I met and courted my first wife in Chehalis, WA. I know I have a few photos of Pep, but I can't think of where they are right now. He was a handsome young man and the girls were drawn to him, but he was on the quiet and shy side. I have thought of him often over the years. He was a good friend.
