Felton Herbert Alford, born July 18, 1914, fell asleep in the Lord Wednesday, October 12, 2005. He lived his life devoted to all his family and faith his entire life. “Well done good and faithful servant.” He was born and raised in the piney woods of East Texas to the parents of Clarence and Laura Alford.
Felton is survived by his loving, supporting wife, Mouriel; daughter, Sandra Moses and her husband Donald of Beaumont; granddaughters, Monica and Patrice Moses; sister, Hilda Walker of Beaumont; brothers, Haskell Alford of Palm Harbor, Florida and Hoy Alford of Las Cruces, New Mexico. His sisters, Nola Anger, Helen Brummett, Gale Kelley and Hazel Gwyn preceded him in death.
Like many other young men at that time, he spent a year in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He then attended college in Eastland, Texas for a time, then enlisted in the United States Navy serving during World War II. Felton was employed by Sunoco as an accountant for thirty-five years, and the support he was able to give his parents enabled his brothers and sisters who were in the Masonic Home and School in Fort Worth to come home and rejoin the family.
The highlight of his life was their second home on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas where he could cruise the beauty of the area he lived so much in his trusty “Red Fish” boat. He shared this wonderful place with family and friends for years and it became that special place filled with wonderful memories for all.
