Helen Irene Bishop, 79, of Sour Lake, died Friday, August 26, 2005 at her residence. Funeral service will be Monday, August 29, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at Broussard’s Chapel, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze, with burial to follow at Votaw Cemetery in Votaw Texas. A gathering of family and friends will be today from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
She was born in Votaw, Texas on October 20, 1925 to James Robert and Frances Elizabeth Sumrall and has lived in Sour Lake since 1965.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton “Bubbie” Bishop.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Delores Fontenot and husband Donnie of Sour Lake; granddaughter, Sami Clubb and husband Ira of Pearland, Texas; great-grandson, Zachary Clubb; sisters, Wilma Jackson and Joyce Dryden, both of Votaw, and Betty Flannagan of Vidor; sister-in-law, Ressie Self of Saratoga; brother-in-laws, E.J. Bishop of Kountze and Charles Bishop of Hardin; step-grandchildren, Donna Aleman and Jeanine Fontenot, both of Solana Beach, California, and Darrell Fontenot of Vista, California; four step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
