Inez T. Compton, born July 17, 1916, at the age of 87 years has gone to be with her Lord on June 22, 2004. A member of 1st Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas, she was a retired Executive Secretary of American Legion Auxiliary, Arkansas Girls’ State, and Arkansas Child Welfare for over fifty years.

Her sisters, Mildred Shipp and Ima Jean White both of Hope, Arkansas, preceded her in death. Survivors include her, sister, Floice Taylor of Hope, Arkansas; brothers, Waymond Taylor and his wife Mavis of Hope, Arkansas, Raymond Taylor of Fritch, Texas and William “Bill” Taylor and his wife Joyce of Highlands, Texas; brother-in-law, Hulan White; son, William “Bill” Compton and his wife Redona of Beaumont, Texas; grandsons, Michael T. Compton of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Jay Compton of Collerville, Tennessee; and five great grandchildren.

My mother enjoyed working with people and her life was the Auxiliary, Girl’s State, and especially helping our veterans and their families. She always put the needs of others first. She always put me first also. She developed Alzheimer’s in 1996. Mother’s Day 2004 was the last day she really knew me. Her last words were, “I love you more than anything.” And she did. She will always be a great mom and lady.

Interment was held in Memory Gardens, Hope, Arkansas on Monday, June 28th.
