Roxanne Marks Skyvara, 49, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at UTMB in Galveston.

Beaumont’s beloved Girl Scout leader of Troop 6023 has hung up her vest and gone to her Savior. Diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April of 2000, Roxanne fought a courageous battle while continuing to raise her three daughters in Beaumont before she left us on July 5, 2005.

Born March 8, 1956 in Auburn, New York and graduating from Cayuga Court High School, she wisely moved south to Huntsville, Texas 1977, studied Criminal Justice at SHSU and worked at Chanello’s Pizza, where fate intervened and she met Jeffery Skyvara. They were married in September 1982 at the family farm in Evergreen, Texas. They lived in Shertz and Ennis, Texas for several years before finding the true meaning of home in Beaumont in 1991.

Survivors include her husband, Jeff Skyvara of Beaumont, daughters, Frances Skyvara, Kathleen Skyvara and Mary Skyvara; brothers, Charles Marks and Paul Marks; sisters, Charlene Marks and Helen Polcovich; and other loving family members.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Broussard’s Chapel, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with cremation to follow. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 A. M. on Tuesday until time of service at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family request remembrances made to Roxanne Skyvara Trust Fund, c/o Texas State Bank, P. O. Box 26016, Beaumont, Texas 77706.

You were not just a Girl Scout friend, you were a good friend. You left big shoes to fill, and our hearts empty. I give praise to God for putting you into my life, and I will never forget you and the kind and gentle examples you gave to us.
