Venice Fay Maines McCracken, 76, of Beaumont died April 24, 2005 at her residence. Born on September 17, 1928 in Fairplay, Texas and a resident of the Beaumont area since 1988. She was an active member of Harvest Christian Fellowship Church, Mended Heart Association, Right To Life and The Hope Crisis Center.
She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Godwin and her husband Allen of DeBerry, Debra Hattaway and her husband Dennis of San Antonio, Linda Weidner and her husband Ronald of Bedford and Nancy Bishop of Irving; sons, Raymond Edward McCracken, Jr. and his wife Shelia and Bobby McCracken all of Carthage; grandchildren, Kristopher Godwin, Brandon Hattaway, Meredith Hattaway, Karen Bogle, Brandi McCracken, Lacie McCracken, Corey McCracken, Sarah McCracken, Lindsay McCracken, Kyle McCracken, Derek Bishop, and Alex Bishop; great grandchildren, Shelby Godwin, Kyla Hattaway, Madi Hattaway, Claire Hattaway, Kassidy Bogle, and River Bogle. Preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Raymond McCracken; parents, Sandy and Minnie Maines; sisters, Luddie Clements, Helen Young and Irene Tew; brothers, Sidney Maines and Buck Maines; grandson, Adam Godwin.
Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2005 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont followed by burial at Walton Cemetery in Del Ray, Texas at 4:00 p.m. under the direction of Broussard’s, North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
