Sue Switzer Mann Weisenfelder, 90, formerly of Beaumont, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 in Plano, Texas.

Mrs. Weisenfelder was born in Beaumont on June 22, 1926 to George and Bernice Switzer. She attended Beaumont public schools and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1943. During her school years, she was active in dance, drama, and choral activities. After high school, she attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans for two years. She transferred to The University of Texas in Austin where she met her future husband, James Mann. They were married and lived together in Beaumont for over fifty years. They had one son, Stephen Mann. After raising her son, she continued her education at Lamar University in Beaumont where she received a degree in Art.

Sue was involved in many local organizations including the Junior League and was a patron of the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. She was a supporter of the Lamar University Art Department and she was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Beaumont.

Sue's son Stephen died in 2000 and her husband James died in 2003. On January 13, 2010, she married Carl Weisenfelder, a Beaumont High classmate, and was welcomed into his large immediate and extended family. She is survived by Carl, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A gathering of Mrs. Weisenfelder’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. with her funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with Dr. Bob Shield, officiating. Her interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 5247, Beaumont, Texas 77726 or to Art Museum of Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 3703, Beaumont, Texas 77704.

Sue was always enjoyed and appreciated for her creative spirit. She was a happy, joyful person. She was kind and generous and a great patron of the arts. She always had something nice to say to everyone with her warm, friendly demeanor. She will be remembered fondly.

Sue welcomed me early on when I joined Trinity United Methodist Church in the 60's. She was such a talented artist; always full of joy and curiosity. When Sue and Carl married she immediately became an 'Aggie'. My condolences to Carl and her family.
