Leah Lucille Carroll Fisher, a life-long resident of the Golden Triangle area, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2005, at age 87. Born in Houston, Texas, on August 19, 1917, Leah was the first child of Tommie Welborn Carroll and Charles Bryant Carroll, Sr., who moved to Port Neches in 1917.

She was described in the 1935 War Whoop as “personality plus” and “a very pretty brunette … well-known and well-liked by both the students and the teachers throughout the school.” In her later years, she enjoyed attending class reunions and cheering for the PN Indian football team.
Following graduation from high school and Port Arthur College, Leah moved to Beaumont and worked for Mobil Oil Refinery, where she served as a dedicated and faithful employee for 37 years. She married Joe Fisher, Jr., of Beaumont, on October 15, 1947, and was happily married for almost 25 years until his death in January 1972.
After retirement, Leah returned to Port Neches to live the remainder of her years. She enjoyed traveling, working crossword puzzles, watching soap operas in the afternoon, eating chocolate treats, and most especially, being with her family and close friends.
