Marie C. Seibert, 90, of Westlake, Ohio, and longtime resident of Beaumont, Texas, died Sunday, January 8, 2017. She was born on June 18, 1926 in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Zulima Perkins Cole and Ralph L. Cole. As a young woman, Marie enjoyed music and developed a talent for piano and organ, as well as performing in the high school chorus and bands. In 1943 she graduated from Zanesville High School and attended Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio and the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. She worked in a variety of clerical positions and taught music before marrying Wendell Seibert on February 10, 1951. Together they raised four children and created households in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Cheshire, Connecticut, and for thirty seven years in Beaumont, Texas.

After her children had grown, Marie returned to college at Lamar University in Beaumont and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music in 1974 and her Master’s Degree in Music Education in 1980. She taught English at Forest Park and West Brook High Schools in Beaumont for fifteen years. In addition to being a supportive role model to her children, Marie also felt called to serve. She was an active member of the Junior League, the Beaumont Symphony League, the American Contract Bridge League, and was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church for thirty years. She was an organist for a variety of churches in the Beaumont area and taught piano to students of all ages for over thirty years.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years, Wendell; and her sisters Marilyn Sylvester and Marlene Eliason.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Seibert Steinbrecher and her husband, Jon, of Rocky River, Ohio; sons, John Seibert and his wife, Rin, of Valparaiso, Indiana; David Seibert and his wife, Melinda, of Waco, Texas; Jimmy Seibert and his wife, Laura, of Waco, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
