Velma Louise Lindsey Reeves, 83 of Groves, passed away Monday, March 28, 2005 at Park Place Hospital in Port Arthur.
She was born on August 1, 1921 in Pineland, TX to Herschel and Ila Cherry Lindsey.
She grew up in Pineland where she graduated from Pineland High School in 1939. She has spent most of her life in the Port Arthur area. She was a member of the North End Baptist Church in Port Arthur and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post # 8576 in Clute, TX.
Her parents; husband, N. R. Reeves; son, Robert Herschel Reeves; four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Johnnie Lou Sebesta and husband, Charlie of Grand Junction, CO, Ila Mae Reeves of Groves; two sisters, Cherry Ford and husband, Emmett of Beaumont, and Patricia Free of Lake Jackson; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Broussard’s Mortuary 505 12th. St. Nederland. Graveside services and interment will be at 11:00 am Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Jack’s cemetery in Pineland, TX with Reverend Wilton Golmon and Reverend Bertis Ford officiating.
