On July 5th, 2016, our family lost its matriarch, Jennifer Jacqueline Wise. While there are a lot of great mothers in the world, we hope you’ll forgive us for insisting that Jennifer was among the best.

There was never a day that passed when Jennifer’s three children, Cynthia Jones, Sandra Ward, and Aaron Wise didn’t feel her adoration. She would ease their burdens as often as possible, in any way she could.

Jennifer is survived by her husband of fifty years, Robert Wise. She was endlessly devoted to Robert, and cared for him during his battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She also had seven grandchildren, and each of them had the honor of experiencing the love of this extraordinary woman.

Jennifer was born in Victoria, British Columbia, the second daughter of William and Mimi Mills. Together with her parents and sister, Judith Branion, Jennifer traveled to Europe where she met and married her husband. Her marriage brought her to the United States, where she lived the rest of her life.

She possessed the type of personality that lit up every room she entered. She made friends easily, and never an enemy. Jennifer was blessed with a sharp mind and wry wit. Her sense of humor was as biting as it was legendary, and she never let anyone take themselves too seriously.

A loss of this magnitude is incalculable, and invites condolences. However, we ask for congratulations. A life as well-lived as Jennifer’s deserves applause instead of mourning. She touched the lives of so many, and those lives are better for each and every second spent in her presence. She taught us what it means to love, and for that we’ll be eternally grateful.

Thank you, our dear mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. You left us with the treasure of knowing you, and for that we’ll owe you more than we’ll ever be able to repay.

Thanks to the Wise family so much for sharing Nana Jenny with us. She was our kid's nanny for a number of years. She was always full of energy and laughter. Everything from chasing our dog when she got loose with a hot dog to calming our kids when they had a bad day at school or with friends! Both our kids loved Nana and she provided them with a foundation for a better life and understanding compassion for others. In addition, she taught them to ignore the little things and concentrate of the big things of life. We all loved Nanna Jenny and are glad she is out of pain and flying with the butterflies in heaven!!
