Charline Dauphin, 86, of Silsbee, died Friday, June 3, 2016. She was born on April 4, 1930, in Benoit, Mississippi, to Violet Southerland Ready and Charles Ready.

Charline graduated from Halsville High School and later went to Kilgore College where she was a Rangerette. There she met Sidney “Chief” Dauphin and they later married. Chief and Charline moved to Silsbee in 1961, where Chief worked as a coach at Silsbee High School. In 1969 Chief and Charline made a decision to start their home health business, Texas Home Health, which was started in Silsbee in Charline’s kitchen with three people. It later grew to twenty-seven offices and over 10,000 employees.

After working for thirty-one years and after the untimely death of Chief, Charline sold the business and focused on being a community activist and philanthropist. One of her most active roles was in the support of the fight against cancer.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin Dauphin of Silsbee; sister, Sandra Godwin and her husband, Johnny, of Longview; nieces, Darla Denby and her husband, Kevin, of Longview and Adonna Bromley of Gladewater; great-nephews, Dalton Brister and Brandon Brister, both of Longview; and very dear and trusted friend, Jim Willis of Silsbee.

Honoring Charline as pallbearers are Heath McGallion, Craig McGallion, Bobby McGallion, Darrell McGallion, Bobby Kelley, and Kenny Davenport.
