Jeanne “Jan” Cronmiller Lamb, 82, of Beaumont, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016. She was born on October 29, 1933, in Long Beach, California, to Jeanne Gravatte Cronmiller and Colonel LePage Cronmiller, Jr. In her youth, she lived in China while her father was serving in the Marines. Once retired, the family moved to Winter Haven, Florida where she graduated from Winter Haven High School and worked in the summers as a skier at Cypress Gardens. She was a graduate of Florida State University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She met her husband Payton, the love of her life, on a blind date while he was stationed at Bartow Air Force Base in Florida. They married in 1957 and once out of the Air Force, they moved to Beaumont.

Jan has been actively involved in the community for years. She was a longtime member of the Junior League of Beaumont where she served as President and then went on to serve on the Area Council for the Association of Junior Leagues. She loved her sorority, Chi Omega, and has been actively involved in the Alumnae group since graduating and even served as a Chapter Visitor for the National office. She was active and held board positions in the Symphony Women’s League and the Symphony Society Board, the Buckner Auxiliary, Beaumont Panhellenic and numerous other worthwhile causes.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Lamb Wisener and her husband, Darwin, of Katy; Susan Lamb Hurst and her husband, Bryan, of Joaquin; Margaret Lamb Wright and her husband, Clay, of Cypress; and Gloria Lamb Smith and her husband, Tim, of Arlington; brother-in-law, Tom Lamb and his wife, Elizabeth, of Beaumont; sister-in-law, Kathleen Boudreaux, of Beaumont and nieces and nephews. She was known fondly as “Janny” by her grandchildren Payton Wisener, Sara Wisener, Keith Rushing, Lauren Rushing, Katherine Wright, Kelley Wright, Matthew Smith, Christine Smith, and Caroline Smith.

Jan is preceded in death by her husband, James Payton Lamb; and her parents.

A gathering of Mrs. Lamb’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Gloria, I was so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. Although I never met her, if she was anything like you, she was a special woman. You and the rest of your family are in my prayers.
