My Dearest Heather,

I have dreaded this weekend for the past month. It's so
hard to believe that God called you home 6 years ago.
I dreamed about you a couple of nights ago. I had been
praying for God to let me hold you again. For months now.
I dreamed that you were about to go off to college. Your
Daddy was telling you that you could come home during
Thanksgiving & Christmas. I looked at you and started crying. Your eyes filled with tears too. We hugged each
other & I started crying that much harder. I held you closer
to me then I woke up in tears. I literally had a precious piece of Heaven within my arms. Words can't explain how awesome it felt to hold you again. God answered my prayer
when he knew I'd need to hug you the most. I said a prayer
thanking my Father for letting me wrap my arms around you.
I MISS you so much. You are thought about every single day,
and I can't wait to be with you for all of eternity.

About a month ago I was out at Forest Lawn, visiting relatives and I became obcessed with finding your gravesite. I kind of remembered where it was but had to search.....finally, there is was. I think of you often and your mom too. You were her shining star here on earth and now you are her star in heaven. Your life reminds me how we should live and it also reminds that life is short. I am so thankful we have God's promise that we will all meet again. I can't wait to sit down and talk with you for a while.........we have all of eternity, you know!! If you run into my dad or my husband....hug them for me and tell them that I miss them but will see them soon.

~My Dearest Heather~ Tomorrow makes 5 years without you, my best friend in the world. I thought that time would make today and tomorrow easier, but unfortunately it does not. I still think of you every day and miss you more than anyone will ever know. I never knew 5 years would go by so fast. I can still remember it like it was yesterday when you and I were teenagers with nowhere to go but to hang out on Hillebrandt Bayou Bridge or get in trouble on the four wheeler (not to mention fixing fences before your dad got home)! Bertie..it's been over 2 1/2 years now since you went home..things have definately changed..Since the day we lost you, things have never been the same...So much has happened in the last two years and when these things happen I always find myself thinking of you..that beautiful smile that was always on your face!! Two years. So much has happened and changed in these past two years. Yet, it seems like yesterday was the day. Something big happened today and I always think of you on those occasions. To My Dearest Heather, God brought you home 2 years ago. Your Daddy & I think about you every single day. We are thankful for the 18 yrs that we were able to spend with you. Those were the best years of our lives & we'll always cherish that special time. We would rather have had those 18 yrs together than never have known you at all. We no longer believe that accidents happen. God has a plan for all of us. There is a time to be born & a time to die. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow. We know that it was your time to go. My Dearest Heather- I cannot believe you have been gone for two years today. I am blessed that you and I were friends for about 15 years. I miss you so much and I think about you everyday. Although you are not physically here anymore, your spirit lives on, especially through your mom. I talk to her all the time and I can definitely hear you in her voice. When I see her, I see you. Mrs. Becky is like a mom to me now, and I thank you Heather for watching over your family and your friends. Your dad is very special to me also. You will always have a very special place in my heart. Heather, I cannot believe it has been almost 2 years. I think about you constantly. No one will ever replace you. Every person I become friends with, I find myself comparing them to you. Heather, my world has changed so much with you gone. The rest of senior year pretty much sucked. I had a really hard time that I hid from everyone pretty well. You know how stubborn and hard headed I was (still am). In July, I met someone, and I still to this day believe he was a gift from you. His name is Brian. He has helped to make my world happy again, and is continuing to do so everyday. I still struggle with the thoughts of that night sometimes, but then I just think back to those funny nights we had. Like homecoming game night, how goofy Robert was in the car on your birthday night after Sartin's, and most of all, the Washington trip. I cherish every sweet memory of us together. You would be a little disappointed in me though. I let my GPA slip my 2nd semester of school. I work full time now but I plan on going back in the fall. Many times I find myself asking why this happened? I have many questions but I know in my heart God is taking care of you like no one else can. I believe you brought me and my parents closer because now I realize how precious every second is. I made the mistake of taking time for granted for so long. You never know what life will bring you. I want to thank you for making me a better person. I know many people think I have completely moved on because I try to avoid talking about you, but I haven't. I just do not want to live my life in the past. I still breakdown from time to time too, but I have to look at life another way. You were allowed a little over 18 beautiful years here, and I never know how many years or days I have. I want to live each day to the fullest with love and patience, and compassion. I love you forever. You will always have a special place in my heart that no one can touch. By the way, I am sorry for being so angry for so long about you leaving. Heather (our "Bertie") I can't believe that it is about to be two years. You are so missed, especially that beautiful smiling face. I am so proud of you how you touched so many hearts in your short time here with us. In your happiest and saddest time on earth you always were smiling and helping others out. Heather-- I miss you so so much. There hasn't been a day that's passed that I haven't thought about you. Do you have any idea how much I love you..you are the best friend I have ever had in my whole life..No one has ever come close to you. It's still tearing me up inside that i can't talk to you Heather...I was having dreams about you almost every night. I had one that seemed like it came from you directly. In the other dreams you didn't know you were gone..in the last one, you were talking to me about how much you miss everyone, and that you're going to see me again. I miss your parents so much. I just have so much to tell you. Did you read the letter I put in your casket? My grandmother passed away on the 4th, so I know the two of you have alot of catching up to do. Guess what? But once we have enough money saved, we will have one. You know, I thought that with time the pain would heal, or at least lessen some..but it still hurts just like the first moment I was told..... it's not easier.. and not too long ago I saw something on tv that I just knew you would laugh at.. and i picked up the phone and dialed half of your number...and when i realized you wouldn't be on the other end...it broke my heart all over again. Gosh...I can still hear your voice so clearly... and your face hasn't faded at all from my memory.. You are always going to be my best friend. And I won't ever stop talking to you Heather. I taught Heather AP U.S. History at West Brook High School. I am incredibly saddened by the loss of Heather. I will forever remember her wit, smile, and cheerful attitude. I can honestly say that when she walked into the room, she made everyone better. I'll never forget when we had a theater production about Lewis and Clark and Heather was a little Indian girl...she was precious. I give all my love and sympathy to the Bertrand family. Thank you for allowing me to be in your daughter's life.

Heather, It's been over a year since my sweet friend went home. I can't even begin to tell you what it's been like since you've been gone. I felt you there everyday in school, and not a day goes by still that I don't think about you! I just want to hug you again and tell you that I love you. I know it sounds weird, but the only thing I have thought about is how much I want to hug you. I remember looking at you and Robert that Friday and I told Christine that I thought you found your place with him and Tarah. Losing a peer is always hard especially when they are as sweet and loving as Heather. Im not a close friend but i know her from school. In the past month i have lost both my great grandmother and my grandmother two of my best friends in the world. I want to say that i am sorry for the loss that the bertrand family has suffered i didn't really know Heather, but i see the affect that her death has had and i realize how good a person she was. She has made it home and is waiting on us to come visit her.

Becky and John, Im truely sorry for your loss.. Heather and I were best friends growing up, drifted apart later on but she was always a friend no matter how close or distant we were. I will miss her. But as i told my mom it seems like yesterday she and i were playing in the drive way or playing at your house with the play-do you told us not to play with it on the carpet.. But i can tell you this she is in a much better place and my cousin will watch after her until you can get up there to be with her...
