Irwin K. Moorhouse, 91, of Beaumont, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at The Oaks of Beaumont. He was born on October 13, 1924, to Ruth Cruse Moorhouse and Irwin K. Moorhouse, Sr.

Irwin grew up in Beaumont attending local schools. He was a member of the 1942 graduating class of Beaumont High. Upon graduation, Irwin joined the Army with his life-long friends. He became a member of the 13th Armored Group, which landed in Lingayens Gulf. He participated in the Battle of Luzon, which resulted in the Allied Forces victory over Japan.

After returning home from the war, Irwin married Margery Adams in 1947. He spent the next sixty-eight years with the biggest catch of his life. Irwin graduated from The University of Texas in 1950 with a degree in Geology. He was employed by American Real Estate and eventually retired from Jefferson County Appraisal District.

Irwin was an active member of the church where he and Margie married. At St. Anne’s, he served on many committees through the years.

Our “Moose” will be remembered for his generosity, BBQ, and love of hunting and fishing. He loved Longhorn football, but most of all, he loved the devotion to his family and church.

Survivors include his wife, Margery; children, Mike Moorhouse and his wife, Katherine; Pat Moorhouse; Ann McDonald and her husband, Mike; David Moorhouse; Mary Smith and her husband, Bobby; John Moorhouse and his wife, Dena; grandchildren, Ginny McClanahan, Ellen Briscoe and her husband, Jeff; Jake White; Ben White; and Katy Moorhouse; and great-grandchild, Leah McClanahan.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Ed Goolsbee; and niece, Elizabeth Goolsbee.

A Rosary for Mr. Moorhouse will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of his family and friends to follow until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2016, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Woodville.
