James “Jim” Cassity, 86, of Beaumont, Texas, died Friday, April 1, 2016. He was born on February 15, 1930, to Virginia Williams Cassity and Roe Cassity, in Cassville, Missouri. Jim was wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a great example of hard work having worked 40 years with Mobil Pipeline, retiring in 1990. His "work" then was his daily golf game. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling. Most recently he worked to keep his birds and squirrels happy. His homemade ice cream was the best in the world. We miss you and love you Dad.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Cassity; son, Michael Cassity and his wife, Bettie, of Portland, Texas; daughter, Valerie Thorsell and her husband, William, of Chanute, Kansas; son, Randall Cassity and his wife, Karen, of Lumberton, Texas; brother, Ted Cassity and his wife, Dixie, of Wolfort, Texas; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Cassity; sister, Nancy Turner; and grandson, William Cassity.

A gathering of Mr. Cassity’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
